英语版---OSX 86现状!(不知贴这是否合适)

Dude let me clear a few things up...

Long ago another site and forum were the ONLY place for osx86 projects.

That site and forum died upon a better and more smoothly operating site/forum arose. Insanely.

Eventually it's owner made a lot of money and when the time was right sold out.
Insanely is the work of many people...literally thousands.

Here is more for developers as the key developers saw differences with those who ran Insanely.

Moofspeak was the IRC networking LOOSELY connected with Insanely.
It just happened to be the best run irc network with active Insanely members on it.

Upon the split, Moofspeak lost a few people who were regulars to come to OSX86.hu. And Insanely lost some regulars who now come here: Hackint0sh.org.

Really, I see this as a positive thing as the Insanely forums grew so fast and had (eventually) tons of moderators/admins who weren't actually doing their jobs.

I know how hard it can be to moderate/admin for a forum, especially popular ones.
It is a thankless job and I don't blame people for walking away or taking breaks.

As with all things important, communication is key.

So you ask what is happening with the project? It's really quite simple:

10.4.x gave way to now the lastest edition 10.4.9.
Many people write their own mods/kernels/patches.
Sometimes it's too hard to keep track.

Many of the best developers are slowly retiring/have retired.
Being as 10.4.9 is the final version before Leo, you will see 1 final round of DVDs, Updates, Kernels, etc.

The biggest problem with OSX86 is its complete lack of organization; including the WIKI!

Since everyone thinks their work is better and no one wants to share the glory, OSX86 now has dozens of people doing their own things. Most usually, creating their own kernels to tweak performance or work out bugs/glitches.

Now before anyone flames me...chill out...I'm not done yet!
There are some people still working on common OSX86 issues.
For example: more robust graphics drivers, sound drivers, wifi drivers, etc.

Even some unrelated projects to OSX86 like Macam are working to create additional support for webcams to be used in our hacks.

There is still good work being done but by fewer and fewer people.
And you can't blame them for a few simple reasons:

1) They never had a safe/permanent home to share all their work with one another
2) Lamers who refuse to read or test in controlled environments ask for support without attempting to learn anything on their own.
3) There is risk involved and a history of a few people gone missing.
4) Many people after messing with their hacks just buy real Macs. After that, OSX86 kinda is unimportant to them.
5) Not enough people who have success of ANY kind write/add/edit the wiki. If everyone did their fair part to the wiki it would be an automatic guide which would answer almost all your questions instantly and be completely customized to your wants/needs/requirements (system).

If you factor in all these things and eventually scene ties get weakened by arguments, competition, increased risk with less payout (emotional, egotistic, etc) then it's clear to understand why any leaders/pioneers in any scene vanish. Eventually, real life becomes more important and unfortunately, these scenes don't lend themselves to honest life-long friendships...it's sad but true.
